Farmers Markets Around Charlotte
As we prepare for warm weather and long summer days, Charlotte residents can also look forward to shopping at farmers markets. Farmers markets are a way for buyers to shop for local, fresh and seasonal produce, flowers and more. Here is a list of some of the popular farmers markets available to people in the Charlotte and surrounding areas this summer.
Davidson Farmers Market – 120 S Main Street, Davidson NC
Saturday mornings in Davidson are commonly spent walking on Main Street, grabbing a drink from Summit Coffee and strolling through the local farmers market. Local vendors include farms, nurseries, bakeries, meat producers, cheese makers and specialty food producers. This is a producer-only, year-round market that features more than 35 vendors within a 100 mile radius.
Charlotte Regional Farmers Market – 1801 Yorkmont Road, Charlotte NC
The Charlotte Farmers Market is one of the four regional farmers markets owned by the State of North Carolina’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Here you will find fresh produce, fresh pork products, grass fed beef, goat milk cheese, scrumptious baked goods, delectable jams and jellies, goat milk soap and much more. From October to April, the market is open Tuesday through Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. and May through September, Tuesday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. and opens Sundays at noon.
NoDa Farmers Market – 704 E. 36th Street, Charlotte NC
NoDa Farmers Market is a year-round, producer-only market in the heart of the NoDa neighborhood in Charlotte. After shopping for fresh, local food at the market you can check out their website for recipes to create in your own kitchen. Come experience the unique vibe of NoDa while shopping garden-fresh and local cheese, grass fed meats, baked goods, dumplings and more!
Gastonia Farmers Market – 410 E. Long Ave., Gastonia NC
From April until December, shoppers can enjoy a large selection of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, crafts, honey, meats, flowers and plants at the Gastonia Farmers Market. Each of the market’s vendors must receive a grower’s certificate from the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service and a farm visit from the market’s committee, so buyers know that they are getting real garden-fresh food and goods. The market also offers a Kidz Club with fun activities, shopping and a treat!
Matthews Community Farmers Market – 188 N Trade Street, Matthews NC
For 26 years, Matthews Community Farmers Market has provided an exciting community gathering place in downtown Matthews for guests to shop, nibble and relax. Come enjoy live music, cooking demonstrations by top local chefs and activities for the whole family. Cotswold Farmers Market – 309 S Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte NC
Cotswold Farmers Market is a community project of the Charlotte Providence Rotary Club, with presenting sponsor, Levine Children’s Hospital of Carolinas Health Systems. The market runs weekly through Oct 29. The market’s goal is to improve the Cotswold community and the city of Charlotte by promoting healthy lifestyle habits, encouraging healthy eating and exercising and offering a variety of local farm vendors and producers.
