Annual Greek Festival Returns to Charlotte
The 40th annual Yiasou Greek Festival comes to Charlotte this weekend with food, entertainment and fun for the whole family.
The festival has become one of Charlotte’s biggest cultural events since its inception in 1978. Now the festival includes a broad range of Greek entertainment like Hellenic cultural exhibits, authentic Greek cuisine and homemade pastries, entertainment, live music and dancing, wine tastings, art, shopping and more.
For kids, the festival will have a large play area complete with rides, activities and cotton candy. Older children will love the ethnic displays and chance to interact with the Spartan warriors and festive dancers.
Live entertainment will be the main focal point of the weekend’s event. Guests will be able to listen to nationally known Greek bands, view dances and cultural reenactments from members of Charlotte’s Greek community and learn about Greek history and culture.
The Greek festival will be all weekend, starting on Thursday, September 7 at 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and finally on Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. The festivities will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 600 East Blvd, Charlotte NC and tickets are available online.
