Charlotte Suburbs Among Fastest Growing in the Area
Charlotte is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing cities in the country, which includes its nearby suburbs.
From Tega Cay and Fort Mill to Huntersville and Cornelius, the small towns and sub-areas around the Queen City are showing substantial growth. The fastest-growing suburb, by far, is Waxhaw. From 2010 to 2015, the population of the small town to the South East of Charlotte grew by an impressive 37 percent. This makes Waxhaw the fastest-growing suburb in the Charlotte metro area, according to U.S. Census Bureau. During that time, Waxhaw added over 3,600 residents, bringing the total headcount to nearly 13,500.
Tega Cay and Fort Mill experienced considerable growth as well, both seeing over 20 percent of population growth. Following those two cities were Cornelius, Matthews, Pineville, and Huntersville in terms of population size.
The Charlotte metro area has clearly been experiencing substantial growth. And as Charlotte has seen in recent years, population growth comes with business expansion and economic development.
