Labor Day Celebration at the Whitewater Center

U.S. National Whitewater Center

There is no shortage of ways to celebrate at the U.S. National Whitewater Center during Labor Day weekend. Outdoor activities including yoga, River Jam, 15K and 5K trail races, and evening fireworks will fill your social calendar at the Whitewater Center throughout the holiday weekend. Matthews Alive Labor Day Festival

Friday, August 31 through Sunday, September 2

The popular festival Matthews Alive returns to the area for Labor Day Weekend. The festival is free but tickets will be sold for rides, games, and other attractions. Come out and enjoy live music, carnival rides, and a Labor Day Parade. You will find the festivities on the corners of John and Trade Streets in Downtown Matthews.

Belk College Kickoff

Saturday, September 1 at 3:30 p.m.

Bank of America Stadium

The Belk College Kickoff is the official start to college football in the Queen City. Cheer on Lake Norman local quarterback Will Grier with West Virginia University and the University of Tennessee Volunteers at Bank of America Stadium. Join other fans for the 2018 Belk College Kickoff FanFest outside of the stadium before game time.

Romare Bearden Birthday Bash

Saturday, September 1 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Celebrate Romare Bearden’s birthday party festival in the heart of the Queen City. Enjoy the views of Uptown Charlotte, live music and entertainment, and family-friendly activities during Labor Day weekend.
