River Jam at the U.S. National Whitewater Center

Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays May through September

River Jam is back at the USNWC all summer long, starting this month through September! The free event is open to the public each week on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Come enjoy the warm weather with live music and performances, open water swims, and trail runs starting at 7 p.m. each evening.

 

Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club

April 29-May 5

Professional golfers return to Quail Hollow Club for the Wells Fargo Championship’s stop on the PGA Tour. The 2019 Player Field includes big names like Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson, and Justin Thomas along with local pros like Webb Simpson and Harold Varner III. Untappd Beer Festival at Bank of America Stadium

Saturday, May 4 at 3:00 p.m.

The inaugural beer festival will take place inside Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers! Untappd Beer Festival is a one-day celebration of the Untappd Community of beer drinkers, breweries, and venues. Food and drink concessions will be available for purchase throughout the stadium. Local breweries include Ass Clown Brewing Company, Birdsong Brewing, Catawba Brewing, and many more. Tickets and schedules can be found online.

 

NC Brewers and Music Festival at Historic Rural Hill

May 10-11

Join the celebration of North Carolina brewing and local musicians at this year’s festival. The festival’s schedule begins at 3 p.m. Friday followed by fireside games and live music. Local brewers participating include NoDa Brewing Company, Red Clay Ciderworks, Red Oak Brewery, and more. For a full list of participating breweries and bands, visit their website.

 

Lake Norman Festival of the Arts at Birkdale Village

May 18-19 at 10:00 a.m.

The Lake Norman Festival of the Arts and Craft Marketplace will feature sculptures, photography, glass, paintings, and ceramics on display in Birkdale Village. Stroll through Birkdale and grab a bite to eat as you enjoy the weekend of visual inspiration and artwork. The full schedule can be found online.

 

Memorial Day Trail Race at U.S. National Whitewater Center

Sunday, May 26 at 9:00 a.m.

The Memorial Day Trail Race features both 5-mile and 8-mile distances through the USNWC trail system. After the race, stick around for a day full of live music, yoga, outdoor adventure, and fireworks at the Memorial Day Celebration. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in all age groups for both distances.

 

Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Sunday, May 26 at 6:00 p.m.

Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with the Coca-Cola 600, part of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. This year honors the 60th running of the Coca-Cola 600 and will include live music entertainment before the start of the race. Tickets are available online.
