Myers Park Real Estate

About Myers Park

There is no better introduction to Charlotte than a drive down Queens Road in Historic Myers Park, where some of the city’s grandest homes are framed by a canopy of willow oaks. Myers Park emerged from a cotton farm in south Charlotte in 1911, when landscape architect John Nolen was hired to create a “garden suburb.” Nolen opted for curving streets that followed the landscape. Most historic homes in Myers Park reflect the Classic style from traditional brick Georgians to Tudor.  Newer, upscale condominium buildings are also popular in the corridor along Selwyn Avenue.  The area is within walking distance to Freedom Park (which has great public tennis courts which are lit) which hosts Festival in the Park each year at the end of September (and Art Walk in April of each year). Another beautiful garden area to visit is Wing Haven Gardens & Bird Sanctuary on three acres in the heart of the area. Queens University is tucked in the center of Myers Park. The area boasts lovely restaurants, shopping and is only about 3 miles from Uptown Charlotte. A new two-story Harris Teeter sits at the intersection of Queens and Providence in the Myers Park Center shopping center, across from the Myers Park branch of the Mecklenburg County Library. Residents enjoy plenty of shopping along Providence Road. For more information on what it's like to live in Myers Park, visit the Myers Park Homeowners Association page, here.
