In 2015, Helen Adams Realty established a permanent endowment with UNC Charlotte in memory of our founder, Helen Adams. When considering how to honor and give back to our community, the education of local students and future leaders felt like a natural fit. And so, the Helen Adams Realty Scholarship Fund was born.
"Our grandmother was a graduate of a local Charlotte college and placed a high value on education," shared Rebecca Adams Starrs, Chief Marketing Officer at the firm. "When thinking about giving back to the education of our community, we chose UNC Charlotte because of their size and growth. As they expand, they have the ability to positively impact individual lives and the community at large by making education more attainable through scholarship funding. "
The Helen Adams Realty Scholarship Fund is part of the larger UNC Charlotte endowment, which has a market value of $302.8 million, according to the latest endowment report from December 31, 2022.
The proceeds from the firm's scholarship fund are used to provide merit-based scholarship support to incoming freshmen with a preference given to those from Mecklenburg County. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided the recipient continues to demonstrate academic achievement. Past recipients of the Helen Adams Realty Scholarship Fund have sought the following degrees: Computer Science, Biology and Chemistry, History and Economics, and Marketing.

Merit-based scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen through the Levine Scholars Program. The award is renewable for up to four years and recipients are selected by the UNC Charlotte Scholarship Committee. To be considered, current high school seniors must complete a Freshman Admissions application and a Levine Scholars Supplemental Application. To gain access to the Levine Scholars Supplemental Application, seniors must first receive a nomination from their high school counselor. See more here.
