Drive-Thru Boo Halloween at Northlake Mall

Northlake Mall is hosting a Drive-Thru Boo Halloween event on Saturday, October 31st at 2 p.m. to offer neighbors a safe way to celebrate. This is a no-contact, family-friendly event where guests are invited to bring the whole boo crew to the mall parking lot for a spooky and safe event.

“It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” StoryWalk

Travel over to Kings Mountain for a special family activity throughout the whole month of October. “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” StoryWalk is an ode to the timeless Peanuts tale where guests can walk at their own pace and experience everything that fall has to offer. The themed event is free and open to the public at Patriots Park in Kings Mountain.

Halloween Light Show in McAdenville

The Hammond family typically participates in McAdenville’s Christmas lights traditions but this year, they’re hosting a display for Halloween too! It’s free to drive up and watch the light show, just be respectful of neighbors and other guests. The Halloween light display will take place from October 16th to October 31st, 2020. They’ll have it going from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through October 29th, and then from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on October 30th and 31st.

Haunted Car Wash

Aquawave Express Carwash, in Belmont, is transforming into a Tunnel of Terror Thursdays through Sundays until Halloween. You can get your car washed while you enjoy a haunted experience. You can expect fog, flashing lights, and up to 10 entertainers dressed in costumes and masks based on popular Halloween films.

Queen City Oktoberfest

This free, family-friendly event will be held outdoors and face masks and social distancing are required. The 4th Annual Queen City Oktoberfest is the biggest arts and crafts festival of the year! There will be homemade crafts, local vendors, food, bounce houses for kids, face painting, a Halloween bake sale, and so much more. Find out more information online!

Spooky Traditions at Home

If you’d rather opt for Halloween at home this year, we’re lucky that this holiday is filled with lower risk activities that families and friends can easily take part in at home. Carving or decorating pumpkins at home or outside in a private park or greenway are easy alternatives this year to maintain social distancing. Think about your favorite snacks, treats, and fall-themed recipes and get cooking! Another fun way to celebrate safely would be going virtual with a video conferenced costume contest, virtual happy hour, or seasonal online cocktail or cooking class.

Halloween-Themed Drive-In Movies

Hocus Pocus is a cult classic and a must-watch during the Halloween season. This year, shake things up by seeing the Halloween classic at a local drive-in movie theater, rather than your own living room. Costumes and candy are encouraged.

  • Thursday, October 29 at Crossroads Cinema at Camp North End. Buy tickets.
  • Friday, October 30 at the Ballantyne Movie Series. Details.
