The holiday season has arrived in the Queen City! For the next several weeks, residents and neighbors will be getting in the spirit with parades, dinner parties, shopping, and time spent with loved ones. We’ve created a list of things to do throughout Thanksgiving weekend this year in Charlotte. Whether you are an annual turkey trotter or love the start of holiday shopping, there are several happenings around town that will help kick off your holiday spirit.
Novant Thanksgiving Day Parade
Thursday, November 22 at 9:00 a.m.
Novant’s annual Thanksgiving celebration returns to the Queen City as the
southeast’s largest Thanksgiving Day Parade
! With performances, food and drink vendors, VIP seating and even a visit from Santa Claus himself, this parade is sure to be a great start to your day.
2018 Lake Norman Turkey Trot Running Festival
Thursday, November 22 - Saturday, November 24 at 7:00 a.m.
Join this Lake Norman tradition throughout Thanksgiving weekend. The festival starts on Thursday morning with a family friendly run and continues through Saturday’s half marathon. As

says, run a 5K or 10K and then enjoy a guilt free Thanksgiving!
Belmont Turkey Day 5K
Thursday, November 22 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The 8th Annual Belmont Turkey Day 5K is an event benefiting Belmont Community Outreach and Gaston County’s
S.O.C.K.S
organization. Help spread holiday cheer by donating time and resources to this year’s event. More information can be found on their

Thanksgiving Bounty at the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge
Thursday, November 22 from 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving meals at the
Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge
and indulge in seasonal salads, decorative displays, carving stations with regional accompaniments and decadent desserts. There will also be live entertainment and private dining rooms available for larger groups. Breakfast and dinner menus are available.
Charlotte Christmas Village: A New Queen City Tradition
Thursday, November 22 open daily at 11:00 a.m.
The European-inspired
Christmas Market
will open on Thanksgiving Day in Uptown Charlotte and remain open through Christmas. The market will host an eclectic variety of specialty foods ranging from strudels to bratwurst and sauerkraut to glazed nuts and hot mulled wine.
Walk off the Turkey Hike at Anne Springs Close Greenway
Friday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m.
Head outside for a brisk, medium-paced hike around the 3.1 mile Runners Loop at Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill. This hike is appropriate for all ages and will take approximately two hours to complete the route. Hikes are free for members and daily visitor fees apply to any non-member. Find out more info

South End Small Business Saturday
Saturday, November 24 from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Kick off the holiday shopping season in
South End on Small Business Saturday
to support local businesses around the Charlotte area. The event will host more than 200 local businesses, 70 places to eat and drink, free trolley rides throughout the neighborhood with maps up for grabs throughout the route. Explore local shops, restaurants, and breweries and start marking off those holiday present checklists!
