Since 2006, we have surveyed every client after every closing through a third-party system called RealSatisfied. We understand that through every transaction, we have an opportunity to learn and grow to become better advisers for our clients. In 2019, the typical REALTOR® earned 30 percent of their business from repeat or referral clients. At Helen Adams Realty, over 73 percent of our company’s business comes from repeat or referral clients.

Helping Clients Across the Country
Another interesting comparison between Helen Adams Realty and the national average is the presence of an in-house relocation department. Only 30 percent of agents reported having a relocation department, while Helen Adams Realty has an award-winning team. In 2018, HAR’s Relocation Department received the All-Star Award, recognizing its outstanding achievement while working with Fortune and Global 500 companies.
“In 2019, our department closed over 350 transactions in partnership with larger corporations here in Charlotte and with our agents’ family and clients in other parts of the country,” notes Rebecca Starrs, the firm’s Relocation Director. “We love working with our agents to relocate clients to Charlotte and we’re well connected across the country to service our agents’ clients with needs outside of our market.”
Outperforming the Rest
Thanks, in part, to our customer service and relocation department, our agents’ median annual sales volume is quite a bit higher than the national stat. Our agents sell $4.5 million compared to the national median of $1.9 million, as reported in 2019.
The general structure of our company differs from most in the country, as well. We’re an independently owned, locally operated firm with deep roots in Charlotte’s local community. According to the National Association of REALTORS®, only 53 percent of agents surveyed are affiliated with an independent firm. Also, the median age of agents at Helen Adams Realty is slightly younger than the national average, with HAR’s median age being 47 years compared to 54 years old, nationally.
With the most recent opening of our Fort Mill office, Helen Adams Realty now has four offices throughout Charlotte and the surrounding areas. 44 percent of the REALTORS® surveyed stated that their firm operates out of just one office. Our offices work like a campus, meaning our agents and their clients have access to all four offices in Uptown Charlotte, Ballantyne, Lake Norman, and Fort Mill. This allows our agents to cater the experience to their clients and use the office that’s most convenient for their specific home search.
