It’s never too early to start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. By getting started this fall you can jump start your physical fitness routine and beat the first-of-the-year crowds.

Not one for the traditional jog on a treadmill or weight lifting? Check out these unique Charlotte area gyms that can help you reach your fitness goals in a new and exciting way:

Arrichion Hot Yoga + Circuit Training: Located in the heart of South End, this studio offers a distinctive blend of hot yoga and strength training. The Arrichion website boasts, “it’s about harnessing the best of both worlds to help you achieve your personal best.” The popular Tiger’s Eye class is a hybrid forty five minute session that is half circuits and half hot yoga.

STAX Bootcamp: Every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. STAX offers a free boot camp session at their convenient South Tryon location. NFL star, Randy Moss, and Crossfit Games veteran, Emily “Breeze” Ross-Watson, lead the classes. STAX also offers Crossfit, Yoga and Cryotherapy.

Hype Fitness: This Myers Park facility tailors a fitness and nutrition program to each individual based on the results of DNA testing. Hype also offers personal training, in-home chef services focused on healthy eating, and group fitness.

Opex Fitness: Opex is a hidden gem situated in Plaza Midwood that offers a one-on-one approach to training. After a three-part scientific evaluation, each client receives a formulated plan specific to his or her needs. To learn more about Opex watch this testimonial video.

Hilliard Studio Method: In 2007 Liz Hilliard and her daughter, Clary, began teaching group fitness classes concentrated on resistance training and core-focused movements. The Charlotte-based studio has expanded to a line of DVDs and a sister studio called HSM | Core.

Looking for a workout on a budget? Consider venturing out to one of Mecklenburg County’s local greenways. You can learn more about the Charlotte area greenway locations here.
