Get Spring Fever at Some of Charlotte's Natural Gardens

Spring has officially sprung in the Queen City. The new season brings us warmer weather, longer days and one step closer to summer. With the rising temperatures and natural beauty around Charlotte, there are tons of things to do this spring. A fun daytime activity in Charlotte could be visiting one of the several beautiful outdoor gardens in the area.

 



 

UNC Charlotte Botanical Garden

The UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens host three garden sites with 16 collections of plant life and flowers. The goal of UNC Charlotte’s Botanical Gardens is to promote the knowledge and appreciation of plants whether you are taking a relaxing stroll through the scenic venue or interested in learning more about horticulture and gardening, these gardens offer a variety of natural beauty. The Botanical Gardens also host seasonal events like Wild for Wildflowers and free outdoor concerts.

Wing Haven

Another place for beautiful outdoor scenery is Wing Haven. The gardens at Wing Haven are located in the heart of Myers Park, one of Charlotte’s oldest neighborhoods. Wing Haven offers dozens of educational programs and special events throughout the year.  One of the two public gardens at Wing Haven is a sanctuary for birds and wildlife. The Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden is another place at Wing Haven where guests can tour a world-renowned garden writer’s living laboratory filled with captivating wild life.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens is located within 380 acres on the banks of Lake Wylie and is home to remarkable gardens, twinkling fountains, a conservatory displaying tropical plants and orchids, a visitor pavilion, a garden store and several nature trails. The gardens offer youth and family programs and work with the Girl Scouts to educate guests on gardening, horticulture and health and wellness.

Historic Rosedale Plantation

The Historic Rosedale Plantation is a southern garden and event venue which was originally part of a 919 acre plantation. You will be sure to get the traditional southern experience on this estate while touring through the antebellum plantation and gardens. The plantation even has several trees on the property designated by the state or county as historic treasures. There is a lot to learn and see at this remarkable home.
