Spring has always been homeowners’ favorite time of year to brighten up their home and get it on the market. Before you hit the market this spring, put in a little elbow grease and make sure your home is clean and ready to show. Here are a few tips for your spring cleaning.

1. Stage your curb appeal
A home’s front yard is the first thing people see when driving up to see a listing. Parking at the curb, walking up the driveway, and gazing at the front door are the first moments that this potential buyer will picture themselves in the home. Maximizing this curb appeal can help with that first impression. Get the front yard in shape as quickly as possible by clearing way excess leaves, trimming the bushes, mowing the grass, washing down sidewalks and the driveway, and even pressure-washing the house to really make it shine.

2. Don’t underestimate the power of a good cleaning job
Deep cleaning the house, inside and out, cannot be stressed enough for home sellers. Rooms that are likely to gather clutter like the kitchen can make the whole house feel dirty. Declutter the counters, remove all refrigerators magnets and personal items, hide small appliances, then clean everything til it sparkles! Don’t forget to wash down appliances inside and out – you never know where buyers are going to look.

3. Declutter, declutter, declutter
Clean out the clutter throughout the entire house. Closets, bathrooms, living rooms and bedrooms are all susceptible to gathering junk and becoming those catch-all places in the home. While you’re cleaning the house, make sure you take these rooms into consideration. The cleaner your house looks, the easier it will be for buyers to picture themselves, their families, and their life changes in the home.

4. Bring spring inside
Switch winter accessories for their spring and summer counterparts. To add a pop of color, keep fresh flowers around the home. This creates a springtime aesthetic and a real aroma that buyers will love. The spring time feel will create an inviting atmosphere for visitors.
