Originally from Nicaragua, Maria Elena immigrated to the United States when she was seventeen years old to attend college. Maria Elena graduated from Sacred Heart College, Belmont with a B.S. in Biology (cum laude) and a B.A. in Chemistry and Medical Technology (American Society of Clinical Pathology) from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and later she earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Maria Elena is a multifaceted, conscientious, engaged member of the Charlotte Community, fluent in English and Spanish. She has extensive professional and volunteer involvement in Charlotte. She worked at Novant Health, formerly Presbyterian Hospital, in the Microbiology department and then for Mecklenburg OBGYN and Bradford Clinic. She also volunteered at her children's school and Myers Park Presbyterian Church where she is a member. Additionally, she served on the parental executive board and the international board at her children's school, Charlotte Country Day. Furthermore, following her passion for caring and friendship for others she became a Girl Scout leader for twelve years and assisted various underprivileged populations in the Charlotte area. Under her leadership, six scouts were able to obtain their Gold Award. She is a member of Maris de Charlotte, a Latin women's organization in which she is a social work committee chair.
She has lived in Myers Park with her husband for 32 years and previously in Dilworth and is the proud mother of two children. Maria Elena enjoys playing competitive tennis at Myers Park Country Club, international traveling, being part of social organizations, and taking care of her dog, Zack.
Maria Elena is excited to have affiliated with Helen Adams Realty after a lengthy career in the medical field and volunteer involvement in the Charlotte community. Her core values include hard work ethic, education, desire to excel, friendliness, loyalty, and passion to help others by assisting her clients with their real estate needs and helping them to achieve success.
